Religion in San Francisco

The wide variety of San Francisco religion and religious institutions speaks to the diversity of the city, with many of its residents being active members of such popular religions as Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism, Baha’I, Taoism, Shinto, and Islam. Many of these religious institutions have sought to educate the community about their beliefs and values through outreach programs that include lectures, invitations to religious observances, and holiday sharing with members from other faiths and communities.
